HITACHI H-MSP-202 Multi Plate Screw Press is designed to obtain high volume reduction and high hydraulic throughput at a low polymer dose. The design provides for low maintenance costs and long operational life in the highly corrosive atmosphere of sludge treatment. As a thickener and dewatering device combined in one unit, polymer consumption is reduced because progressive stabilization is achieved through the aggressive removal of water in the thickening zone. The unit self-regulates to achieve the highest cake solids in one step.

Design

Alternating fixed and moving rings are secured around the screw. The inner diameter of the moving rings is smaller than the outer diameter of the screw so the moving rings are pushed out by the larger screw and continuously clean sludge out of the gaps preventing clogging. The K-S Multi~Wave can deliver pumpable thickened sludge or conveyable dewatered cake.

A built-in thickening zone can eliminate the need for a separate thickener, sludge storage, or dosing facilities. Our dewatering Multi~Wave screw press is an all-in-one construction that allows it to be compact and economical. The K-S Multi~Wave runs in unattended automatic mode that requires minimal oversight thus lowering labor costs. As shown in the tables it also has low energy and water consumption.

Huading multi-plate screw presses are specially designed for dewatering sludge from water and wastewater treatment, biogas residue, and industrial slurries. They are characterized by moderate speed, minimal supervision plus low power, noise and vibration levels. High uptime, easy maintenance, and cleaning during operation are other benefits. Huading multi-plate screw press is more advanced than traditional dewatering systems which can be easily blocked by low concentrated sludge. The screw press allows for automatic continuous sludge flocculation, thickening, dewatering, and filtrate discharging. The thickening zone allows the system to process both highly concentrated sludge as well as sludge with a high-water content. Applications Municipal wastewater plant sludges – primary, secondary, mixed or digested sludge Industrial slurries from e.g. food or chemicals production Biogas residue.

Working principle

Dewatering takes place in an inclined drum with a wedge wire screen forming the cylinder wall and an internal screw conveyor. Polymer is dosed and mixed in the dedicated polymer mixing container. The flocculated sludge suspension is then led into the screw press’ inlet and to the first drum section for drainage of free water. Gradually, the sludge suspension increases in dry solids content as it enters the pressure zone of the drum. By virtue of the counter-pressure created by a restricted outlet, more free water is released from the sludge cake as it progresses towards the outlet. The released water is drained off to the filtrate outlet under the feed inlet. The filtered sludge cakes are pushed forward by the shaft and finally discharged from the end.
